Complete the online Student Support Form with all rotation details, including the first and last name of your preceptor or clerkship director . Congratulation to the 2025 Pathway to Med School Graduating Class! Maggie Abboud, University of Georgia Leslie Avellaneda, Georgia State University Walker Barrett, University of Georgia Erika Delgado, University of North Georgia Anna Mitchell Ralston, University of Georgia Anna Tatum, University of Alabama Sarah Ellen Toms, University of Georgia Hasten Veal, University of North Georgia We are so proud of these future physicians as they spent an intensive month shadowing, researching, and preparing themselves for the rigors of medical school and beyond! Thank you to Northeast Georgia Physicians Group, Piedmont Athens Regional Health System, Swanahoochee Pediatrics, Oconee Valley Healthcare, Synergy Health, Legacy Medical, and Whole Hart Wellness for providing clinical shadowing! Thank you to the AU/UGA Medical Partnership Campus, PCOM-GA, Mercer School of Medicine, and Morehouse School of Medicine for providing guidance on their journey to med school! This program would not be possible without these volunteers. - 2025 Foothills AHEC Scholarship Recipients
We’re excited to share that the Foothills Area Health Education Center (AHEC) awarded its third round of First In Family scholarships and ninth round of Intensive Program Scholarships! Congratulations to Jacob Ortiz and Esmerelda Rivera, our First in Family Scholarship Recipients! Jacob is a Biology student at Georgia Gwinnett College, and aspires to ultimately become an Anesthesiology Assistant. Esmerelda Rivera is a Radiology Technology students at Lanier Technical College, and aspires to become a Radiologist. We are excited to see all these students accomplish! We would also like to congratulate our Intensive Program Scholarship recipients, Claire Hall and Chloe Tanner! Claire is a graduate of Franklin County High School and participated in the Piedmont Health Scholars Program. She will be attending North Georgia Technical College to become a Registered Nurse. Chloe is a graduate of Dawson County High School and participated in the Brenau Medical Scholars Program. She will be studying Biology the University of North Georgia. - The 2025 Pathway to Med School Application is Now Open!
Foothills Area Health Education Center (AHEC), in collaboration with community partners from across Northeast Georgia, administers this 5-week residential program each summer for undergraduate pre-medical students attending Georgia institutions who plan to stay in state for medical school and practice primary care in Georgia. The program consists of 180-scheduled program hours of clinical shadowing, community-based research, and instructional sessions.
