What is an HSTE teacher?
A Healthcare Science Technology Education (HSTE) teacher provides opportunities for middle and high school students to explore health careers. They provide students with a foundation of healthcare knowledge and skills and facilitate a smooth transition into postsecondary nursing, medical, or allied health education.
How does Foothills AHEC support HSTE teachers?
We partner with universities in our service area to host intensive programs that expose high school students (or recent graduates) to health careers via hands-on activities on college campuses and that provide an inside look at the lives of college students in healthcare professional education programs.
Foothills AHEC partners with the Georgia Statewide AHEC Network and its 6 centers to produce the Health Careers in Georgia publication every 3 years. This publication includes state-specific details on over 80 health careers reviewed by expert readers across Georgia, as well as information about how to pursue a health career and the latest industry trends.
We published A Guide to the Polished Interview: Health Professional Programs and Beyond, a step-by-step guide for students who are preparing for an encounter with a health profession program interview committee or potential employer. Tips for before, during, and after the interview will help students become polished and confident in appearance and presentation.
