Foothills AHEC First in Family Scholarship

 

Amount: $4,000

 

Access to higher education is an important measure of progress, and       Foothills AHEC is committed to helping students in our region attain health careers that will ultimately grow and support the diversity of our healthcare workforce in Northeast Georgia.  Understanding the insurmountable financial challenges some students in our communities face when making the choice to pursue a post-secondary degree, the Foothills AHEC First in Family  Scholarship was developed for a student who will be the first in their immediate family to attend a college or university.

 

Eligibility Requirements: 

 

• First person to attend college in your immediate family 

• Accepted into a post-secondary educational facility in the state of Georgia

• Declared a major in a healthcare-related field.

Application Deadline: May 1st

 

The recipients will be announced the third Monday in May. A scholarship of $4,000 will be paid to the post-secondary educational facility indicated by the recipient.

 

*Students are eligible to apply each year for a maximum of four years after high school graduation, or until receipt of the scholarship, or entrance into a health profession, whichever comes first.
