Foothills Area Health Education Center is the newest of six
AHECs in Georgia and one of 178 AHECs nationwide. AHECs in
Georgia establish partnerships to improve access to health care
for underserved residents and to provide training and continuing
education opportunities to students, educators, and health
professionals.
Foothills AHEC is a community-driven, non-profit corporation
supported by federal and local assistance. Our mission is to
increase the supply and distribution of health care providers,
especially in medically underserved areas. Through our joint
efforts, communities experience improved supply, distribution,
and retention of quality health care professionals.
By partnering with communities and
post-secondary institutions in Northeast Georgia, Foothills AHEC:
-
Assists youth and adults
who are exploring careers in health care
-
Supports the training of students
currently enrolled in health care professional programs
-
Supports the education and retention of
